		Received her doctoral degree of Health Sciences from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in May 1999. She began her career as a Physical Therapist in 1982 and then added to her expertise with a master's degree in exercise physiology in 1987. She has been an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), holding offices on the local, state, and national level. Her most challenging professional positions include: Director of Physical Therapy at Staten Island University Hospital South (1987 - 1992), Executive Director/Owner of DeVita/Becker Physical Therapy P.C.(1987 - Present) and the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education of the Physical Therapy Program at the College Of Staten Island (1992 - present). Maureen continues to enjoy her dual role as clinician and academician while expanding her expertise into the areas of ergonomics and women's health. She is a prolific writer and has had several works published (2 books of poetry and 3 referred journal articles).
