Diane Schmidt, PT Diane holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn (1992), and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Long Island University (1983. She has a background in acute care, home care, and outpatient physical therapy. Diane has also been a member of the faculty at the College of Staten Island and an adjunct instructor in the physical therapy program (1996 - 2002). She is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Associations since 1992, and is licensed to practice Physical Therapy in New York State. Diane has been a member of the DeVita / Becker staff since 1996. |

Lisa Baiada-Miller, DPT Lisa has been practicing in the Staten Island area for the last ten years. She graduated from Long Island University’s program in Physical Therapy in 1995 and earned her doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey in December 2004. She is currently working towards certification in Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment (the McKenzie Method). She has been an instructor in the entry-level Physical Therapy programs at Long Island University, Dominican College, and University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey (Newark). |

Jinabelle Saphlot, PT Graduated Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy in 1993 at Oligan Medical Center College, Philippines. Currently working at the Saint Vincent's Catholic Medical Center outpatient rehab department, as well as DeVita Becker Physical Therapy. Has a strong background in manual therapy including trigger points and myofascial release. Also attended various seminars for different manual techniques. |

Bernice (Bunnie) Taylor, MS,PT
Bernice (Bunnie) Taylor is a graduate of the College of Staten Island, where she earned her master's degree in physical therapy in 1999. She received awards for Highest Academic Honors and the Biology Department Faculty Award. Prior to joining the staff at DeVita/Becker Physical Therapy she was a clinician in New Jersey where she practiced acute care rehabilitation as well as outpatient orthopedics. When not providing patient care, Bunnie is a part time adjunct lecturer of physical therapy at the College of Staten Island. Bunnies’ areas of interest include pre-operative and postoperative orthopedic and sports related rehabilitation. |

Lorraine Costa, PT Lorraine graduated with Bachelors Degree in Physical Therapy from Hunter College in 1992. She began her career at Staten Island University Hospital where she worked in Adult Rehabilitation, Acute Care and Outpatient Orthopedics. She joined the DeVita/Becker Physical Therapy staff in 1994 and continually adds new dimensions to the office expertise. Lorraine has been studying and practicing craniosacral therapy and healing through energy fields for the last 9 years. Her interests have no bounds, as she hopes to work with animals, as well as humans, in years to come. |

Michael Mattia, DPT Michael is the newest member of our staff, joining our facility in February 2006; however, he comes to us with 26 years of clinical experience/expertise. For 21 of these years, Michael founded and nurtured, Mattia Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation LLC ( a private practice in Brooklyn), which he will continue to own/operate. His advanced business skills in practice management and clinical skills in patient evaluation and treatment (patients with a wide range of orthopedic, musculoskeletal and neurological conditions/problems) are invaluable additions to our facility. Michael received his Bachelors Degree in 1980 from SUNY, Downstate Medical Center, followed by a Masters Degree specializing in Work Physiology from Long Island University on 1985. Most recently, he received his doctoral degree (Doctor of Physical Therapy, DPT) from Temple University Transitional DPT Program in January 2006. . Michael is also an adjunct lecturer at City University of New York Kingsborough Community College. He also has been an active American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) member since 1978. |

how long you can have treatment, if there is a co-payment, coinsurance
or deductibles due. |

Cathy Krapf, Schedule Coordinator Cathy joined our staff In February 2002 and continues her role as the afternoon/evening Schedule Coordinator. Cathy is responsible for not only scheduling your appointments but can answer any insurance related questions you might have; while steadily developing expertise in insurance verification and medical billing. Therefore, Cathy can answer many Physical Therapy insurance related questions. |

Lana Bagnasco, Schedule Coordinator Lana joined our staff in January 2003 and continues her role as the day time Schedule Coordinator. As part of the front desk personnel, she answers the phone and any scheduling and/or insurance related questions about your Physical Therapy care. Lana’s prior work experience was concentrated in the medical and clerical field. |

Nancy Velez, Insurance/Collection Coordinator Nancy originally came to DeVita/Becker Physical Therapy as a patient. She joined the staff in April 1996 and continues her role as a medical biller/financial expert. Nancy diligently resolves insurance issues particularly pertaining to Medicare and Major Medical /HMO insurances. Nancy’s role also involves the handling and safekeeping of medical records. Nancy is bilingual and is a certified dental assistant with prior work experience previously in the dental industry. |

Miret Kiriakos, Physical Therapist Assistant Miret holds Associates in Applied Sciences from the Atlantic Cape Community College (2003). Before becoming a Physical Therapy Assistant, Miret’s work experiences were in the medical arena (dietary aide and physical therapy aide). She joined the staff of DeVita/Becker Physical Therapy in March 2005 as a part-time employee. She balances her work life between Physical Therapy and Teaching (elementary education). |
